After locating the entrance to the crypt he chants a protective spell and
descends deep into the earth. He enters a chamber where heroes are interred with their heroic named weapons. The skeletons see him and attack him and he cuts them to pieces. After descending further into the the crypt a large number of skeletons assault him, he kills them using his bow Ifvarr and his dagger. He finally reaches a grand chamber where a lich who is not corrupted by the curse greets him, The lich explains that demons are causing the disturbance of the dead, and that the source of the curse is a demon called the spirit mistress who is currently inhabiting the tree Ygilsea, a place of power.

As I pass the threshold of shadow

Into the darkness
The passage descends

The skeletons of the eyeless

Begone spirits from these bones
Leave your long rotted husks
I parry and strike cutting bone to dust
Re-laying to rest those splendid of old
The cavern black descends deeper
Into to the heart of the world
Issuing forth from the depths
A swarm of skeletons I draw Ivfarr
Remove twenty skulls
With twenty arrows
Still they come
I hack them into oblivion
A chamber grandiose in its ruin
My journeys end
On the throne a spirit in bones
Black rag robed greets me
Hero I know your name
Demons are stirring the dead
Terrors for the living
This isle is the loins of the world
Where men and beasts first poured
Forth from Birdwood
The great tree Ygilsea
Corrupted by the spirit mistress
That is where the curse resides
Seeping black majic to submerge all
